Composer, arranger, pianist and director, Pupy comes from a family of musicians. His father, César "Nene" Pedroso, was a pianist who played with Chapottín and other ensembles, his grandfather Julio was director of the Cuba orchestra, his uncle, known as Pío Escaparate, was a güirero from Arcaño y sus Maravillas, Víctor Herrera, brother, He is the director of Sensación and Julio Saldívar, his other brother, plays with the Osmundo Calzado orchestra.

In his beginnings, Pupy was part of the Cuba Nueva group, under the direction of Fernando Álvarez. By then he was already replacing his father César «Nene» Pedroso, in Sensación and Chapotín. He would later join Fascinación and later, at the request of Elio Revé, Charangón. During those years he met Juan Formell, with whom he later founded Van Van, an emblematic and reference orchestra of popular dance music in Cuba and Latin America. In it, Pupy imposed his very personal seal.

As a composer, he has more than 150 works to his credit, among which are hits in the style of Six weeks, Sugar, After you got married, Your bell doesn't ring anymore, Neither chocolates nor candies, The black is cooking, Temba, grave and timba, and what things life has.

In 1999, he won a Grammy for his participation in the CD Permission Came Van Van, which includes three songs composed and arranged by him. He has also participated in important recordings such as Fruit Forbidden and The Best of César Pedroso.

After decades together with Van Van, he decided to create his own project. Thus, on October 4, 2001, the fifteen-year-old Pupy y los que son son debuted on stage, which Pedroso conceived by merging various instrumental formats, with José Luis Quintana «Changuito», who constituted one of Van Van's labels, as an advisor. fundamental.

Certainly, César Pedroso has occupied a place of great relevance in Cuban music, and although his prestige is already a fact, he remains active, composing and providing more of his art. Currently, he is in the process of making the album Re percusión, which is expected to be released in 2021. The album will feature the participation of several guests such as Erick Iglesias, director of Cimafunk, Charly Mucharrima y los Niches, and los Muñequitos de Matanzas, under the publishing seal of the Egrem.

In parallel, Pupy supports, together with another group of soneros, the initiative of Adalberto Álvarez to hold the first edition of the Festival del Son, for the month of May 2021, specifically on the 8th. The choice of the date is due to the fact that this This day marks the birth anniversary of the Cuban soneros Miguel Matamoros and Miguelito Cuní.
