Emiliano Brizuela Ponciano. Cuban guitarist and composer. He was the typical popular singer, the troubadour who went through the cafes and streets of the capital with a guitar. He was born in Manzanillo, Granma, Cuba, on October 15, 1917. He died in Havana in 1977. Author of boleros, such as "Muelle de Luz" and "Rosa marrita"; from the song "Gentle Bard"; of the well-known son-proclamation "Caserita Villareña" and of his most widespread work, the bolero-son "Oriente, florida crib".

The composers of that time, thought and commented, that Ponciano was not in full mental capacity, although nature granted him a gift to create some works that have been imperishable. We know that Miguel Matamoros chose the works to record with care and exquisiteness, so we must recognize that Emiliano Ponciano's numbers had quality and Creole flavor. For this ineffable singer-songwriter, his music represented everything in his life.

His immortal “Oriente florida crib” bolero is, it has been sung and recorded by a good number of groups, it is also worth mentioning that the inhabitants of Manzanillo, and in general the easterners, have felt proud of this brilliant work.

In the year 1942 the trio of Miguel Matamoros, and his group, recorded his best creation “Oriente Cuna Florida” on the RCA Víctor record label, disc 83707 and that same year also included the bolero son “Muelle de Luz”, disc RCA Víctor , 83898. Likewise, the Senén Suárez Group recorded in 1972 his magnificent work “Oriente florida crib”, performed by José Hernández (Laíto son).
