The Juan Formell y los Van Van orchestra, the most popular of Cuban dance music, has numerous awards to its credit, including the Latin Grammy. Rhythm, strength, Cuban identity and authenticity characterize her; although, as it says in one of its choruses, everyone wonders: what does Van Van have that is still there? Considered by continental critics as the Rolling Stones of salsa, and nationally as El Tren, it has been the birthplace of prestigious musicians, and is the innovative group of a new rhythm that, between string instruments, air and percussion, infects the most skeptical of humans.

Van Van is a mandatory reference when talking about culture in Cuba, since it has remained in the public's preference for several generations, becoming a vanguard in the land of artists. It is attested to by the fact that he has broken sales records with each album, reached gold and platinum records, and remained in the Antillean Hit Parade during his four decades of life. The orchestra is distinguished by the use of picaresque, both in the lyrics and in the harmony, as well as irony and costumbrismo. This, together with the fact that they were the first followers of that genre called Songo, turned them into chroniclers of reality and Cuban music, and launched their sounds to the world, gaining fans on the big stages in Latin America, North America and Europe as well.

At the beginning of the Van Van's fourth decade, in the year 2000, their album "Llegó Van Van" or "Van Van is here" was awarded the Latin Grammy for the best salsa album recorded by soloists, duos or vocal and group groups. instruments. More recently, in January of this year, the phonogram "A Cali" was chosen by popular vote (26 percent of the total vote) as one of the albums at the 52nd Cali Fair in Colombia. On May 1, 2014, Juan Formell, founder and eternal director, who will live forever in the immense legacy of his work and in Los Van Van, physically disappeared. During this year, the orchestra is working on the new album La Fantasia, in which they will take up anthological themes unknown to the new generations and new ones by various composers. They also star in an extensive tour of several countries, including Finland, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy and France. Undoubtedly, Los Van Van defend the best music and, not for nothing, have been recognized as "Cuba's musical machinery", which is already celebrating 45 years in the heart of the town.
