Mario Recio

Mario Recio was born in Camagüey, Cuba. Singer, guitarist and composer who arrived with his musical talents in Havana in 1939, where he was welcomed by the Kubavana Ensemble. The doors were opened to him later in the Conjunto Casino and in the Trío Servando Díaz, occupying the Otilio Portal square. Later he took the reins of said trio at the departure of Servando Díaz and Anibal Carrillo, restructuring it as Mario Recio and his trio with José Pinares and Ángel Alday, where they continued in presentations for stages on the island of Cuba and radio stations.

From the pen of Mario Recio came titles such as the boleros "Vive corazón" and "Llegastetard", the sones "Sonerito" and "Soy de Jaronú", the cha cha cha "Las trompetas", the pachanga "Kilimanjaro", the afro “In colonial times”, the guaracha “I don't care about you”, and the bolero mambo “A Holguín”.

The teacher died on October 21, 1961 in Havana at the age of 47.
