With more than 50 years of existence and cataloged as one of the most important orchestras in Cuban musical history, the Orquesta Sensación responds to the charanga format and, although it is currently made up of new musicians, graduates of art schools in Cuba and belonging to to a new generation of talents, has not lost the sonority, the repertoire and the authenticity of its founders.

The beginning of this orchestra dates back to August 23, 1953, when three musicians: Miguel Santacruz, Jesús Esquijarrosa and Eloy Martínez, arrive at Rolando Valdés' house with the idea of organizing a charanga orchestra. Although the latter thought that it was not the time, since at that stage Arcaño, Arsenio and Melodías del 40 were imposing themselves in popular dance music. After three months, seeing their decline due to the emergence of chachachá, created by Enrique Jorrín and broadcast by the Orquesta América, he decides to found and direct the Orquesta Sensación with a new concept: to put the musicians to play standing up and place singers as soloists, different from the Aragón, which did it with three voices in unison. This project marks the debut of this orchestra made up of ten musicians with a great desire to succeed.

The first recordings are made with Celio González, but the first hit is achieved with Cheo Junco, Rolando and Alfonsín Quintana, and the piece Sevent Boy. The second shot was Arráncame la Vida, with Luis Donald, Gerardo Pedroso and Rolando Valdés.

It has been welcomed on international stages such as the United States, performing in the states of Hollywood, California, Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and has also performed in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Canada, Jamaica, France, Nigeria, Congo Brasabille, Senegal, Mali, Gabon, Ivory Coast and Angola.

He has recorded 20 long-playing albums with the La Panal Record Company, of which 4 have been Gold. From 1998 to 2001 he has recorded 5 CDs with the Cuban Bis Music Record Company.

Currently, directed by Víctor Rodríguez Herrera Fernández, a young talent who defends the identity of the Orchestra, closely following the suggestions of Rolando Valdés, the Sensation continues to reap success in each performance. Its sound is the same, but it is renewed with contemporary concepts, without forgetting its origins and it counts to follow the tradition, with Israel Núñez Barroso as singer, who interprets the songs with the same timbre of the endearing Barroso.

Presentations in prestigious nightclubs in Havana, as well as in national events and festivals and in various regions of the world, endorse the current work of Sensación as an attractive proposal that has remained present for more than 50 years with the same authenticity as always. , proving that good music never gets old.
