Singer, violinist and composer. He was born in the neighborhood of Los Hoyos, in the province of Santiago de Cuba. His great motivation was initially dancing, a profession to which he dedicated himself for a few years in his native Santiago de Cuba, although he always had ample talent for singing.

He moved to Havana, where he joined the fabulous Orquesta Ritmo Oriental as a composer and violinist, in which he remained for several years and to which he contributed with his charisma, great moments of popularity and public preference. Tony introduced in the violin section of the orchestra, elaborate choreographies that distinguished it from the rest of the dance groups of the moment, and also his original voice began to be its characteristic seal.

He also began to stand out as an excellent composer, so that many of his works became part of the active repertoire of Ritmo Oriental. Tony Calá was already an important and popular figure in Cuban dance music when he was recruited to join the NG La Banda orchestra, directed by Maestro José Luis Cortés. Since the very creation of NG, Tony Calá has served as the group's singer, contributing his syncopated musical conception of Cuban salsa and performing on the most prestigious stages in Cuba and the world. Tony Calá has been the singer of NG La Banda's greatest hits, including "La Protesta de los Chivos", ?Santa Word?, ?Why do you suffer?, ?You can't cover the sun? and many other musical pieces. Tony Calá's voice is closely associated with the legend of NG La Banda, a group in which he continues to work to the delight of his many admirers around the world.
